S2L Recovery (S2L) has helped thousands of men achieve better health, spiritual growth, and deeper relationships to the people they love. Our intensive approach to addiction recovery sets us apart and has proven successful for more than a decade.
We believe that you don’t have to be labeled an “addict” forever.
Addiction is usually caused by people seeking an escape from something else. It’s a heart issue that drives the mind and then the body. Christ tells us that you must,
“First clean the inside of the cup and the plate, that the outside also may be clean.” – Matt 23:26.
At S2L we focus on the root of the issue and encourage students to listen to our Christian teaching and mentoring perspective to understand how to not just stop drugs and alcohol, but to be something more than an addict. Most recovery programs want you to believe that you have to identify and even introduce yourself as an addict to others–never forgetting you’re an addict fearing you might fall back to thinking you’re not and risk relapse. The bible teaches:
“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.” –2 Corinthians 5:17
From an addiction standpoint, alcohol and drugs are both considered the same. It’s the addiction that we are addressing, not the substance by which they’re addicted. Men often come to us for help after a relapse, following release from another treatment facility before they were ready, or suffering a consequence from their addiction by friends and family.
Our residential program can last up to four months or beyond – much longer than the typical 28-day rehab – to help students achieve stability and prevent relapse. We do everything in our power to lay the foundation for lifelong freedom from addiction and to end the need for repeated visits to rehab.
This follows the recommendation for treatment length from the National Institute on Drug Abuse:
“Generally, for residential or outpatient treatment, participation for less than 90 days is of limited effectiveness, and treatment lasting significantly longer is recommended for maintaining positive outcomes.” – National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA)
Men at S2L advance to the next phase of the program only when they are ready. A detailed, graded evaluation process determines when it’s time for each student to advance based on 30 day increments.
We’ve been in your shoes.
Many of our Recovery Coaches know the anguish of addiction because they’ve experienced it firsthand. As our CEO, Adam Comer notes:
“Truly, I’ve been set free from the grips of addiction. My passions, pursuits, and purpose revolve around the belief that all who are weary from life-controlling issues and addiction can be led to true freedom through Christ”.
We’re passionate about sharing our life experiences to help men overcome all types of addictions. And we’ve had the privilege to guide many remarkable transformations, even for those in the deepest despair.
Is a Christian rehab for me?
People in recovery often show greater levels of faith and spirituality than those who relapse, according to research by the National Center on Addiction and Substance Abuse at Columbia University. We believe spirituality can be a powerful force in your recovery, and a connection with Christ can help you heal from the inside out.
Our biblically based classes teach men how to fill their hearts with God to meet basic character trait needs, instead of turning to alcohol or drugs. Each of us are created uniquely by God and we all have different interests and passions. However many addicted to drugs and alcohol have used these traits in the wrong way or felt they needed “help” in enjoying them. We show men their real identity designed by God for purpose in life. Good for enjoying life to the fullest without the need for “help”.
Many men come to our program with different backgrounds of faith, beliefs and cultural understanding. We welcome all people without judgment–everyone is considered an equal. Our goal isn’t to convert the men that join us, but to simply reveal God’s grace an mercy through the fundamental teachings of Christ which is good for us to grow and change. This is what makes us different than medically based rehabs and focuses on compassion not treating you as just another patient.
We’re here to help you make the decision.
Our staff and admission teams are set up 24/7 to walk you through the process of get you or your loved one here. Wether it’s a financial issue, transportation concerns or even the need for an intervention process, we’re here to help not only the individual but the family and friends too. This is a big step and we take it seriously. What this nation/world is facing is addiction at epidemic proportions.
“Some reports are showing that addiction has become one of the top 10 killers of Americans in 2016–above gun homicides and car accidents.” –Bruce Stanley
