Hello, my name is Bruce Stanley, COO and Director of Programing at S2L Recovery and I’m the founder of Lost&Found, Recovery in Christ. This program is the result of my own recovery and how God led me to His truth to succeed. Addiction issues are not a surprise to God and His word clearly outlines how we are to recover from our broken lives, grow and endure. Here is my story:
After three decades of institutions, jails, counselors and twelve step programs, I couldn’t stop relapsing. I starting searching for God, but I never could completely surrender myself into His control of my life. Continuing to walk both sides of the fence, the world’s way and God’s way, I found myself face down in a ditch in the middle of the night and in the pouring rain–not knowing how I got there or where I was. God was showing me how living this way was going to be worse than before. I later found a passage about this in scripture, “I know your works: you are neither cold nor hot. I would rather that you were either cold or hot! So, because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of my mouth.” -Rev 3:15-16.
That day, 12-12-12, was the last day I ever used drugs or alcohol again.
Early in my search for God’s knowledge, His Spirit led me to a passage that became the principles which this program is founded. I believe it’s how anyone who has come to faith in Christ is expected to grow and endure. Many of us who come to Christ never get past the introduction of our salvation and thus don’t grow in our faith and gain the strength from God to continue fighting the world and our own desires. Through these principles outlined here in 2 Peter 1:3-11, God has revealed, and continues to throughout the bible, how this is a clear pathway to recovery.
In 2015, LifePoint Church created this video which reached thousands:
I was given the chance to be on a radio show with TN District Councilman Mike Sparks, Monty Burks of the Faith-based initiative of TDMHSAS and Rodney Wilson, Pastor at LifePoint Church in Smyrna. I will always be an advocate for the lowly, poor in Spirit and weak. Addiction is a killer!
My hope is that every student who comes to S2L Recovery will see the importance of Christ’s saving grace for healing. I pray that these men will develop a sincere relationship with Him to move away from the darkness of their lives and into His light of salvation. The mission at S2L is freedom from addiction and the harmful behaviors and attitudes that stem from it.
