Spring 2 Life Recovery (S2L) is unique in that it has 3 phases of addiction recovery. Each with their own purpose for recovery from an addictive lifestyle. These phases are aligned with how God calls us to mature in our faith by growing steadily towards a deeper relationship and productive life.
“Like newborn babies, crave pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation,”
1 Peter 2:2
“When I was a child, I talked like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I set aside childish ways. Now we see but a dim reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known…”
1 Peter 13:11-12
Phase 1: THE LODGE
This is where it all starts. As a new student at S2L you enter into this phase located at The Lodge facility. The minimum requirement of our addiction recovery curriculum for Phase 1 is 42 days. All we ask is that you have an open heart and open mind when entering. The Lodge is located in the hills of Tennessee surrounded by beautiful streams and woods.
Yes, although we have medical and clinical staff, we are a Christ-based recovery program and it all begins with gaining knowledge of God’s plan for you. You are the most precious of all of God’s creation and He tells us, “For I know the plans I have for you,” says the LORD. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope (Jeremiah 29:11).
During these six weeks (42 days) at The Lodge you’ll attend classes and groups that will teach you about the Seven Principles of maturing in your faith. These principles outline our sanctified growth as believers for a productive lifestyle. Even if you’re not a Christian, these lessons help you understand practical growth models to be a good citizen and how to obtain a loving nature towards yourself and others.
Phase 1 will also allow you to speak to our clinical staff to assess physical and mental needs to help you recover from an unhealthy lifestyle because of addiction. Our medical and clinical team will walk you through any issues that you may encounter because of continued withdrawals or mental illness that are common to addiction recovery.
Also at The Lodge, you’ll experience opportunities to fellowship with other men in the program by way of retreats, outings, and gym times as well as attending church services and our weekly Catapults. Most importantly, you’ll be assigned a Recovery Coach who will meet with you regularly to personally guide you through your recovery process, including any legal issues you may have.
Recovery Coaches will communicate with family members on a weekly basis for updates according to those you have consented for us to call. Addictions damage not only our lives but unfortunately those we care for and love the most. With your permission, our staff is dedicated to help mend those relationships while we focus on the healing of your loved one.
Because our average stay is over 42 days (73 on average), meaning most men stay longer, we have a Phase 2 of our program. Some men are ready to return home after Phase 1, but due to the differences in addiction regression, some men are suggested to stay longer to ensure they’re ready to return home with confidence.
Phase 2: THE CABIN
The “Cabin” facility is just minutes away from the Lodge. It’s nestled within 10 acres of farmland and large shady oak trees. The house is actually built with sawmill logs and there’s even a couple of barns on the property. With seasonal crops being farmed year long by neighbors, it’s a continued tranquil atmosphere that makes a great sequel to The Lodge.
Like Phase 1, Phase 2 continues to help the student grow in their faith and strengthens the learning of the Seven Principle curriculum. However, unlike Phase 1, Phase 2 uses a different book written by the same author, challenging the student further in their recovery growth. It is still a residential program with similar guidelines but more freedoms are allowed for the residents.
Students during this phase are privileged to take overnight passes off-campus with approved family members and loved ones on non-consecutive weekends. Students are also allowed some personal items that were restricted during Phase 1. More freedom comes more responsibility, which is meant to be a trial towards helping the student deal with tempting risks.
Furthermore, Phase 2 also focuses on family and work skills. From financial stewardship, leadership as husbands and fathers, and learning to cook, these men will be ready to move back to healthy lifestyles. Residents are also allowed to stay here longer by extending if needed in 30-day increments.
Once ready to return home or start new, men are also eligible for Phase 3 if desired.
Phase 3: THE VILLAGE
The Village is a unique opportunity for men to return to work and manage new freedoms with all the knowledge they’ve gained through The Lodge and The Cabin experiences. Phase 3 is similar to transitional living while under supervision however, the prerequisite is they must graduate from Phases 1 and 2 first.
Men are allowed personal time away from campus while maintaining a curfew on certain scheduled days when they’re not working a job. They learn to duly manage a budget and pay bills with the house Staff Leader. Students will still participate in house chores and counseling sessions with an assigned coach weekly. Drug and alcohol screenings are still being required as well.
The unique opportunity is for the student to test the waters of all that has been learned at S2L and see for themselves the consistent enduring godly lifestyle in action. Obedience is the key learning in this environment that will encourage trust in themselves and from others. Our staff will connect them with an employer and drive them to and from work. Other activities such as church attendance will also be in effect.
There’s 4 tier phases at The Village that is determined by the student and his coach as they progress from one tier to another. Most men graduate on average in 4 months and there’s a ceremony held to honor the graduate. It is truly an accomplishment to finish all 3 phases of S2L Recovery and we invite everyone to attend the graduation ceremony.
