You can really tell the team cares about your success and well being so you can become a better more fulfilled version of yourself. Robert Jasinski2025-03-05Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I came into S2L at the lowest point in my life. I entered the program 107lb standing at 6’3”. I could barely eat, walk, or function like a normal human. I was deep in my addiction to Alcohol and pain killers when I came in on Halloween of 2016. From the moment I stepped into the Lodge at S2L, I knew this place had something special about it. The staff and students greeted me with open arms and went out of their way to make sure I was comfortable from day 1. I came in for a 30 day program and ended up leaving 5 months later (3 months as a student 2 as an intern), gained my weight back (170lb). I left the program with a group of men I’m proud to be able to call my brothers, and more importantly, a new understanding of Jesus Christ. There have been some slip-ups in the following years but I always had and have someone that I could trust and go to whenever I needed. 8 years later I’m still connected to many of the men I followed Christ with, people that I can talk about things that only other addicts seem to understand. I’ve recommended this place to many people and have seen so many lives changed by S2L. I came in as a broken man and came out as a follower of Christ! Thank you S2L!! God Bless!! jonathan roth2025-03-01Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. This place was great and really helped me strengthen my relationship with Christ further than it has ever been before. A few minor things I would improve but the purpose here is to find God or strengthen your relationship and I think they do an excellent job of that! Zeke McKinney2025-02-18Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I have seen the hand of God here in a different way than I have seen anywhere else. Truly, the love of Christ is present here at S2L and sinners are set FREE from the guilt and shame of addiction. To God be all the glory forever! Andrew Daigle2025-02-15Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Wonderful people, amazing place Kenna Wellman2025-02-14Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I spent 2022 in the S2L program. First phase twice, then I stayed for second phase on my 2nd go around, and interned. Having been to multiple secular rehabs and countless failed attempts at sobriety. S2L offered a new Jesus centered approach. At 38 years old, I had never read the Bible or regularly attended church. The Lord used S2L to minister to me at a point in my life where I would listen. After loosing my father, being divorced from my wife, and 8hrs away from my kids, I was a broken man. S2L was a conduit for the Word of God to touch my heart and soul. Words can’t describe what happened to me when I spent a year in Woodbury, TN at S2L. I became a Christian, a man, a husband again, a father again, a son again, and a friend again. The Lord used the pastors there and ALL of the staff to point me to Jesus. Once focused on him, the healing begun. I say this, because it’s my truth. S2L changed the trajectory of my entire families lives. I will always be grateful for this ministry, and the men and women who work there. The staff was and is incredible. If you are seek help in addictions, this is your place. If your family member needs help with addictions, this is your place. These people are the real deal, they preach and teach the Word of God. “Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”” Matthew 11:28-30 NKJV

Frequently Asked Questions About
Group Therapy for Addiction Recovery
Group therapy brings a small number of people together with a trained therapist to work through addiction-related challenges. At S2L, sessions combine CBT, DBT, and biblical teaching so participants build coping skills and peer support in a structured setting.
The three main types are clinically led groups (using CBT or DBT), psychoeducational groups (teaching addiction science and prevention), and peer-led support groups (sharing experiences). S2L offers all three, plus biblical workshops and skills groups.
Yes. Group therapy is usually covered as part of residential addiction treatment. S2L works with Aetna, BCBS, Cigna, United Healthcare, UMR, and Prime Health. We also accept TRICARE East, VA Community Care, and ChampVA. Call (615) 819-4175 to verify.
Group therapy may not suit someone in an acute medical crisis, with severe psychiatric symptoms needing stabilization, or unwilling to keep group confidentiality. At S2L, a clinical assessment determines the right level of care before group sessions begin.
As Ephesians 4:32 reminds us, "Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you." That kind of grace-filled forgiveness is what we walk families toward in every session.
Individual therapy is private, one-on-one work on personal history and trauma. Group therapy adds peer interaction, so participants practice communication, receive feedback, and experience community. S2L’s program includes both, with multiple group sessions each week.
S2L offers six types: clinical group therapy (CBT, DBT, motivational interviewing), peer group therapy, biblical teaching workshops (2 Peter 1 curriculum), psychoeducational groups, skills development groups (finances, cooking, leadership), and support groups for topics like fatherhood.
Group therapy is effective for co-occurring conditions like anxiety, depression, PTSD, and OCD. At S2L, dual diagnosis treatment addresses substance use and mental health together. Group sessions build emotional regulation, coping strategies, and peer understanding.
Days include morning devotionals, recovery classes, clinical appointments, group therapy sessions (CBT, DBT, peer-led), journaling, recreational therapy, and evening peer study. Group sessions happen at multiple points throughout the day in a structured schedule.
