If you’re ready to make some real changes and get out of your own way, S2L is definitely worth checking out. You can really tell the team cares about your success and well being so you can become a better more fulfilled version of yourself. Robert Jasinski2025-03-05Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I came into S2L at the lowest point in my life. I entered the program 107lb standing at 6’3”. I could barely eat, walk, or function like a normal human. I was deep in my addiction to Alcohol and pain killers when I came in on Halloween of 2016. From the moment I stepped into the Lodge at S2L, I knew this place had something special about it. The staff and students greeted me with open arms and went out of their way to make sure I was comfortable from day 1. I came in for a 30 day program and ended up leaving 5 months later (3 months as a student 2 as an intern), gained my weight back (170lb). I left the program with a group of men I’m proud to be able to call my brothers, and more importantly, a new understanding of Jesus Christ. There have been some slip-ups in the following years but I always had and have someone that I could trust and go to whenever I needed. 8 years later I’m still connected to many of the men I followed Christ with, people that I can talk about things that only other addicts seem to understand. I’ve recommended this place to many people and have seen so many lives changed by S2L. I came in as a broken man and came out as a follower of Christ! Thank you S2L!! God Bless!! jonathan roth2025-03-01Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. This place was great and really helped me strengthen my relationship with Christ further than it has ever been before. A few minor things I would improve but the purpose here is to find God or strengthen your relationship and I think they do an excellent job of that! Zeke McKinney2025-02-18Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I have seen the hand of God here in a different way than I have seen anywhere else. Truly, the love of Christ is present here at S2L and sinners are set FREE from the guilt and shame of addiction. To God be all the glory forever! Andrew Daigle2025-02-15Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Wonderful people, amazing place Kenna Wellman2025-02-14Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I spent 2022 in the S2L program. First phase twice, then I stayed for second phase on my 2nd go around, and interned. Having been to multiple secular rehabs and countless failed attempts at sobriety. S2L offered a new Jesus centered approach. At 38 years old, I had never read the Bible or regularly attended church. The Lord used S2L to minister to me at a point in my life where I would listen. After loosing my father, being divorced from my wife, and 8hrs away from my kids, I was a broken man. S2L was a conduit for the Word of God to touch my heart and soul. Words can’t describe what happened to me when I spent a year in Woodbury, TN at S2L. I became a Christian, a man, a husband again, a father again, a son again, and a friend again. The Lord used the pastors there and ALL of the staff to point me to Jesus. Once focused on him, the healing begun. I say this, because it’s my truth. S2L changed the trajectory of my entire families lives. I will always be grateful for this ministry, and the men and women who work there. The staff was and is incredible. If you are seek help in addictions, this is your place. If your family member needs help with addictions, this is your place. These people are the real deal, they preach and teach the Word of God. “Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”” Matthew 11:28-30 NKJV

Frequently Asked Questions About
Addiction Counseling Classes
A sober living coach helps individuals in recovery stay accountable, develop healthy habits, and work through the emotional and practical challenges of building a substance-free life.
At S2L Recovery, our coaches are full-time certified peer recovery coaches who have personally walked through addiction and found lasting freedom in Christ. They offer one-on-one mentoring, spiritual encouragement, and guidance through every phase of treatment.
Therapy is led by licensed clinicians and focuses on diagnosing and treating mental health conditions, trauma, and behavioral patterns. Recovery coaching is a peer-based relationship; your substance abuse coach has lived experience with addiction and serves as a mentor and accountability partner.
At S2L, you receive both: licensed therapists handle clinical care (CBT, DBT, family therapy, and more), while your sobriety coach supports your daily growth, spiritual development, and real-world readiness.
A Christian recovery coach addresses more than behavior; they help you understand the spiritual roots of addiction. At S2L Recovery, we believe addiction is a form of idolatry, placing a substance above God, and that lasting change comes through a relationship with Jesus Christ. Our coaches teach identity in Christ as described in Galatians 2:20-21 rather than labeling someone as an "addict" for life. This approach gives people lasting hope and a new sense of purpose grounded in Scripture.
S2L's recovery coaches are full-time, certified peer recovery professionals. They work alongside a team of 50+ staff members that includes a full-time medical doctor, a nursing team, licensed clinical therapists, a clinical director, and ordained pastors. S2L Recovery is Joint Commission accredited and Tennessee State licensed, so every member of the care team, including coaches, operates within nationally recognized standards of quality and safety.
Yes. S2L Recovery is out-of-network with most commercial insurance providers, including Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, United Healthcare, UMR, and Prime Health. The facility is also a TRICARE East in-network provider and accepts VA Community Care Network and ChampVA. Our team will help verify your benefits and walk you through your coverage options so finances don't stand in the way of getting help.
S2L's program includes medical detox (5–7 days), Phase 1 residential treatment (42 days), and Phase 2 extended care (42 days), with an optional 6-month internship. Your sober living coach works with you throughout each residential phase and remains a consistent presence as you move through the program. After graduation, alumni stay connected through a private Facebook group, the Hope After Addiction podcast, weekly devotionals, and alumni events.
No. S2L Recovery welcomes people of all faith backgrounds. That said, Christ is at the center of everything the program offers, from daily devotionals and worship to the Lost and Found biblical curriculum. Many who arrive unsure about faith find that the program speaks directly to the emptiness and spiritual need that fueled their addiction. The team will never judge the circumstances that led someone to seek help (John 8:5-7).
S2L provides medical detox, individual therapy, clinical group therapy, family therapy, recovery classes, recreational therapy, dual diagnosis treatment, and a Christ-centered biblical curriculum.
S2L has two campuses in middle Tennessee: a 36-bed men’s facility in McMinnville and a 22-bed women’s facility in Woodbury. About 70% of clients travel from out of state, and we help coordinate travel.
