Frequently Asked Questions About

Inpatient Addiction Treatment

An anxiety and addiction treatment program provides integrated care for people dealing with both an anxiety disorder and substance use at the same time. At S2L Recovery, our licensed therapists use CBT, DBT, and interpersonal therapy to treat anxiety while our clinical and pastoral teams address the addiction. Treating both together is critical because one untreated condition will undermine recovery from the other.

Anxiety and substance use frequently reinforce each other. Many people begin using drugs or alcohol to self-medicate anxiety symptoms, which temporarily reduces distress but creates dependence over time. As substance use increases, anxiety typically worsens. At S2L, our dual diagnosis approach breaks this cycle by addressing both conditions from day one.

S2L Recovery treats generalized anxiety disorder, social anxiety, panic disorder, and anxiety related to trauma or PTSD, all alongside substance use disorders. Our licensed therapists create individualized treatment plans based on each client's specific diagnosis and needs.

Treatment at S2L begins with 5-7 days of medical detox (if needed), followed by Phase 1 Residential (42 days) and an optional Phase 2 Extended Care (42 days). The extended duration is especially important for dual diagnosis clients, as it takes time to stabilize both conditions and build lasting coping strategies.

When clinically appropriate, yes. Our medical team and licensed therapists work together to determine whether medication management is needed alongside therapy. Any medications used are carefully monitored. We use MAT only during the detox phase for substance withdrawal; anxiety medication decisions are made separately based on clinical need.

S2L combines Joint Commission-accredited clinical care with genuine Christ-centered discipleship. Our licensed therapists deliver evidence-based therapy while full-time ordained pastors provide biblical teaching that replaces fear-driven coping with trust in God. Most programs offer one or the other. S2L delivers both under one roof with a 1.5-to-1 staff-to-client ratio.

No. S2L welcomes men and women of all faith backgrounds. While our program is Christ-centered, you don't need to identify as a Christian before admission. Our team will never judge the circumstances that led you to us (John 8:5-7).

Yes. S2L is out-of-network with most commercial providers, including Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, United Healthcare, UMR, and Prime Health. We also accept TRICARE East, VA Community Care Network, and ChampVA. Our team verifies your benefits at no cost.
