If you’re ready to make some real changes and get out of your own way, S2L is definitely worth checking out. You can really tell the team cares about your success and well being so you can become a better more fulfilled version of yourself. Robert Jasinski2025-03-05Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I came into S2L at the lowest point in my life. I entered the program 107lb standing at 6’3”. I could barely eat, walk, or function like a normal human. I was deep in my addiction to Alcohol and pain killers when I came in on Halloween of 2016. From the moment I stepped into the Lodge at S2L, I knew this place had something special about it. The staff and students greeted me with open arms and went out of their way to make sure I was comfortable from day 1. I came in for a 30 day program and ended up leaving 5 months later (3 months as a student 2 as an intern), gained my weight back (170lb). I left the program with a group of men I’m proud to be able to call my brothers, and more importantly, a new understanding of Jesus Christ. There have been some slip-ups in the following years but I always had and have someone that I could trust and go to whenever I needed. 8 years later I’m still connected to many of the men I followed Christ with, people that I can talk about things that only other addicts seem to understand. I’ve recommended this place to many people and have seen so many lives changed by S2L. I came in as a broken man and came out as a follower of Christ! Thank you S2L!! God Bless!! jonathan roth2025-03-01Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. This place was great and really helped me strengthen my relationship with Christ further than it has ever been before. A few minor things I would improve but the purpose here is to find God or strengthen your relationship and I think they do an excellent job of that! Zeke McKinney2025-02-18Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I have seen the hand of God here in a different way than I have seen anywhere else. Truly, the love of Christ is present here at S2L and sinners are set FREE from the guilt and shame of addiction. To God be all the glory forever! Andrew Daigle2025-02-15Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Wonderful people, amazing place Kenna Wellman2025-02-14Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. I spent 2022 in the S2L program. First phase twice, then I stayed for second phase on my 2nd go around, and interned. Having been to multiple secular rehabs and countless failed attempts at sobriety. S2L offered a new Jesus centered approach. At 38 years old, I had never read the Bible or regularly attended church. The Lord used S2L to minister to me at a point in my life where I would listen. After loosing my father, being divorced from my wife, and 8hrs away from my kids, I was a broken man. S2L was a conduit for the Word of God to touch my heart and soul. Words can’t describe what happened to me when I spent a year in Woodbury, TN at S2L. I became a Christian, a man, a husband again, a father again, a son again, and a friend again. The Lord used the pastors there and ALL of the staff to point me to Jesus. Once focused on him, the healing begun. I say this, because it’s my truth. S2L changed the trajectory of my entire families lives. I will always be grateful for this ministry, and the men and women who work there. The staff was and is incredible. If you are seek help in addictions, this is your place. If your family member needs help with addictions, this is your place. These people are the real deal, they preach and teach the Word of God. “Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”” Matthew 11:28-30 NKJV

Frequently Asked Questions About
BPD and Addiction Treatment
A BPD and addiction treatment center provides integrated care for individuals diagnosed with both borderline personality disorder and a substance use disorder. At S2L Recovery, our licensed therapists use DBT (Dialectical Behavior Therapy) and transference-focused psychotherapy to address the emotional dysregulation at the core of BPD, while our clinical and pastoral teams simultaneously treat the addiction.
Yes. Research shows a strong link between BPD and substance use disorders. The emotional instability, impulsivity, and difficulty regulating distress that characterize BPD often lead to substance use as a coping mechanism. At S2L, we recognize this connection and treat both conditions from the start rather than addressing them separately.
Our clinical team uses DBT to build emotional regulation, distress tolerance, and interpersonal skills. Transference-focused psychotherapy helps clients understand relationship patterns that fuel both BPD symptoms and substance use. Our pastoral team provides consistent, grace-filled relationships that are central to BPD recovery, offering stability and trust through Christ-centered discipleship.
Treatment at S2L begins with 5-7 days of medical detox if needed, followed by Phase 1 Residential (42 days) and an optional Phase 2 Extended Care (42 days). Extended treatment is especially important for BPD clients because building new emotional regulation skills and stable relationship patterns takes time. Our 84+ day program provides that.
When clinically appropriate, our medical team and therapists work together on medication management for BPD-related symptoms. This is determined on an individual basis. MAT is used only during the detox phase for substance withdrawal; BPD medication decisions are made separately based on clinical assessment.
Most treatment centers don't specialize in the intersection of BPD and addiction. S2L combines Joint Commission-accredited clinical care, DBT-trained therapists, and genuine Christ-centered discipleship. Our pastoral team provides the kind of consistent, non-judgmental relationships that are especially important for people with BPD. With a 1.5-to-1 staff-to-client ratio, clients receive individualized attention.
No. S2L welcomes individuals of all faith backgrounds. While our program is Christ-centered, you don't need to identify as a Christian before admission. Our team will never judge the circumstances that led you to us (John 8:5-7).
Yes. S2L is out-of-network with most commercial providers, including Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, Cigna, UnitedHealthcare, UMR, and Prime Health. We also accept TRICARE East, VA Community Care Network, and ChampVA. Our team verifies your benefits at no cost. Private pay is available.
